The role of a virtual assistant has changed significantly over the last two years. AI tools have not replaced VAs — they have made great VAs dramatically more capable. An assistant who knows how to use the right tools can now do in two hours what would have previously taken a full day.

ChatGPT and Claude — thinking partners, not just writing tools

Most people think of AI language models as writing assistants. The VAs who get the most out of them use them as thinking partners. They use ChatGPT or Claude to draft responses, summarise long documents, research topics, brainstorm content ideas, structure complex emails and create first drafts of reports that the VA then refines.
